This Beyond Book aimed at children and families, brings together mischief, chaos, fun and sibling dynamics! Published by Knights Of, Mayhem Mission has been described as “A love letter to every multi-generational family” It’s the first book in the hysterical laugh out loud life series and sees the antics and mayhem caused by 9 and ¾ year old Yusuf Ali Khan when his role in the family changes when his older sister gets married.
A story that many young South Asian boys and families may be able to relate to…Mayhem Mission is the book if you want younger children, brothers, nephews and grandchildren to be understood at a time of family chaos and mayhem!
Sofia Saghir, children’s and young adults books reviewer will be chatting to Burhana, asking about the inspiration for Yusuf, what made her write Mayhem Mission, what’s next for Yusuf and a whole lot more!
It all started with a big sister, a bigger wedding and the BIGGEST problem EVER!
Yusuf Ali Khan is 9 and 3/4 (basically almost an adult). His older sister is getting married, so it’s time for him to step up and become ‘the man of the house’, which means taking care of his Amma and Nanu.
Yusuf is super excited for the wedding – he’s ready for the delicious food, the fun with his cousins and the many presents, but he’s not ready for Affa to leave him as the responsible one. Operation Man of the House quickly becomes OPERATION STOP THE WEDDING – with chaotic and hilarious consequences!
Inspired by Burhana’s own family and Bengali community, Mayhem Mission is a fun, comedic celebration of what it means to be loved unconditionally – with a relatable and moving sibling relationship at its heart and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
